Conclusiones
1. En el año 2004 los Bancos de Sangre
Públicos, de la Seg. Social y Privados del país
no logran una cobertura total en el tamizaje
serológico a las unidades de sangre donadas para
Hepatitis B y C. Los más bajos niveles son reportados
en el subsector Privado y los Bancos de Sangre
Públicos reportan la mayor cobertura. La
sero-reactividad observada en el país para Hepatitis B
fue ligeramente superior a la de Hepatitis C. Los Bancos de
Sangre Privados reportan la sero-reactividad más
elevada de donantes de sangre para Hepatitis B y los Bancos
de Sangre Públicos la más alta para Hepatitis
C.2. La tasa de seroprevalencia de Hepatitis B
más elevada corresponde a Tarija y para Hepatitis C a
Santa Cruz, que es el área geográfica donde se
concentra más de la mitad de los donantes
sero-reactivos tanto de Hepatitis B como de C. Los Bancos de
Sangre del país que mayor cantidad de casos
sero-reactivos reportan son los del subsector Público.
Los donantes remunerados presentan la tasas de
seroprevalencia más altas para ambas Hepatitis,
seguidos de los de reposición o familiares. Los
donantes del sexo masculino representan la mayor parte de los
donantes sero-reactivos a ambas Hepatitis. El mayor
número de casos sero-reactivos a Hepatitis B tanto en
el país como en los Bancos de Sangre Públicos,
de la Seguridad Social y Privados corresponde al grupo de
edad de 32 a 45 años y para Hepatitis C corresponden
al grupo de 18 a 31 años. Más de la mitad de
los casos reportados sero-reactivos a Hepatitis B y C
corresponden a donantes con alto nivel
educacional.3. En Bolivia aun persiste, un alto riesgo de
transmisión de Hepatitis B y C por vía
transfusional. La probabilidad de transmitir VHC por
vía transfusional a partir de las unidades de sangre
procesadas en los Bancos de Sangre del país, es 6
veces mayor que la de transmisión de VHB.
Recomendaciones
El Ministerio de Salud y Deportes deberá
exigir y velar porque se cumplan las Normas Técnicas y
Estándares de Trabajo para Servicios de Sangre
vigentes a fin de garantizar en el país "seguridad
sanguínea y transfusional".El Sistema Nacional de Hemovigilancia deberá
garantizar que a todos los casos sero-reactivos para
Hepatitis B y C en los Bancos de Sangre del país se
les efectúe estudios de
confirmación.Deberá establecerse en el Ministerio de Salud
y Deportes un Programa de Control y Prevención de las
Hepatitis B y C, que a su vez establezca mecanismos para la
evaluación y seguimiento de los donantes de sangre con
serología reactiva a los marcadores de estas
enfermedades.La alta sero-prevalencia de Hepatitis C en la
población de donantes de sangre de Santa Cruz
debería ser motivo de investigación. Por lo
pronto recomendamos que se emplee en el tamizaje
serológico además de la determinación de
Ac anti VHC, el pesquizaje de Antígenos de éste
virus.
